SELF EXAMINATION:

And I went out by nite through the vally gate to the serpent well and the refuse gate,

and viewed the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and it's gates which were burned with fire.

(NEHEMIAH 2:13)

In this scripture, we find Nehemiah going out in secret to view the damage done to the walls in the city.

God has given him a commission to replace the boundaies around the city.

Now, the temple was in order, which was in the middle of the city, but all else was in shambles.

Now, if we look at the city as being symbolic of ourselves and knowing the name Nehemiah means comforter,

we can see God has sent him to help us replace the boundries in our lives that we have allowed to fall into disrepair.

He will help us to put back in place that which is not if we only listen!! He has been sent to help us not to do it alone!!

We must step outside ourselves and take a good long look, an honest look!! Where are the holds at in our walls??

IT also says that the gates were burned with fire. Now that word gate means door or opening, but it also has

another meaning, which is counsel. Has the counsels that we have come to allow to govern our lives been so

taxed, over burdened and tested, that we have stopped relying on them?? Let us go and replace the walls in

our lives and allow God's counsel to govern them.
